Robert “Bob” Boucher has contributed in several roles to the Faculty Human Kinetics at the University of Windsor for over four decades. A distinguished academic, he is an international leader in the field of sport management and has played a large role is establishing Windsor as an attractive site for major athletic competitions.

Born on February 12, 1945 in Calgary, Alberta, Boucher has worked at the University of Windsor since 1974.

In his time at the University, Boucher has provided outstanding leadership for the school’s athletic and recreation programs. A former professor and Director of Athletics, Boucher played a central role in developing several widely respected programs in human kinetics, athletics, and kinesiology. He has also played an important role in the development of the University of Windsor Lancers athletic program.

In his field, sport management, Boucher is considered an expert and has extensive academic and applied experience. Most notably, Boucher has served as the President of the North American Society for Sport Management (NASSM) and the Canadian Intramural Recreation Association (CIRA).

Boucher has published and edited a book and has authored articles that have appeared in a wide variety of academic and professional journals. He was awarded the Dr. Earle F. Zeigler Lecture Award and the Distinguished Service Award for contributions to Sport Management in 1996 by the NASSM. He is a regular visiting professor in Goningen, Holland.

Boucher served as the Chef de Mission for the 1997 World University Games in Sicily, Italy and as the Assistant Chef de Mission for the 1995 World University Games in Fukuoka, Japan. In 2005, he was the chairperson of the organizing committee for the Junior Pan-American Track and Field Championships.

At the time of his induction, Dr. Bob Boucher was the Dean of the Faculty of Human Kinetics at the University of Windsor. He continued to hold the post in 2015.
