MILLS
BUILDER
FOOTBALL
CLASS OF 2024
While the name of Ontario’s minor football league keeps changing, the success of Essex Ravens’ head coach Glen Mills remains the same.
Between 2002 to 2023, Mills coached his teams to nine championship titles at the bantam, junior varsity and varsity level across the Ontario Varsity Football league, the Ontario Provincial Football League and the Ontario Summer Football League. During that same stretch, five other teams reached the league championship final.
His success was recognized in 2012 with his induction into the Canadian Football Hall of Fame within its OVFL section.
A successful high school coach with Essex District Secondary School, Mills co-founded the Ravens’ football program in 1997. He has served as its director of operations and head coach for the past 27 years and as club president since 2012.
In their inaugural season, Mills coached the Ravens to a championship in the Southern Ontario Football Conference.
Over time, his success as a coach was recognized provincially and nationally.
Mills served as head coach of Team Ontario U18s from 2012-18, winning two national championships.
He served as head coach of Team Canada in 2015, with that team winning gold at an event in Texas.
In 2017, he was honored as Ontario Football’s Coach of the Year.
Now, Mills will take his place in the builder’s category of the Windsor/Essex County Sports Hall of Fame as part of the 2024 induction class.
